Research centers

Since 1994 the Città della Speranza Foundation has set the goal of improving the conditions of care and assistance for children and of supporting scientific research in oncology and pediatrics. Thanks to constant fundraising activities, it has collected over 60 million euros over time. Of these, 23 million have been invested in scientific research and 750,000 euros are allocated each year to the advanced diagnostics of the Pediatric Oncohematology Clinic in Padua, a national reference center for the diagnosis of leukemia, lymphomas and sarcomas in the framework of the Italian Association of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
To develop its mission in an increasingly incisive way, the Foundation inaugurated its own Pediatric Research Institute in Padua in 2012. With its 17,500 square meters, it is the largest European center dedicated to research on childhood diseases. To date, it welcomes about 300 researchers, distributed in 15 laboratories, which treat pediatric diseases in different aspects to multiply the chances of success in terms of new discoveries. The most represented research areas are pediatric oncology, regenerative medicine and nanomedicine.

For more than 60 years, CUOA has shapped the managerial and entrepreneurial class. It is the first Business School in the Northeast, one of the most important in Italy, and it offers the national and internation market with training courses that respond to current professional challenges and promote the development of new business models. It places a constant attention to the value of people, to the role of institutions, to the importance of merit in economic and social life, to the ethical dimension of every economic action. CUOA has worked for years with companies and professionals in the biotech and healthcare sector, thanks to the important experience of the Master in Biotechnology for Businesses, and affirms the importance of developing the managerial dimension to support and complete the technical one.
This kind of experience can contribute to the network by training and enhancing the “technical-manager”, a human capital prompt under the profile of corporate governance and its dynamics, as well as figures of researchers able to understand the typical mechanisms of the business and capable of providing productive and strategic solutions for growth.

The institution was inaugurated in 2000 and, today, represents one of the excellence centers in the field of basic scientific research with initiatives of any kind in the field of cellular and molecular biology. VIMM does transnational research, a research that brings science, pure research and medical application closer together in order to use laboratory discoveries in the most appropriate and rapid way. One of the strengths of the Foundation is the flexibility of the institution in the use of its professional and financial resources towards the needs of research in molecular medicine, a characteristic that allows the structure to attract important collaborations with other research centers of international importance. A fundamental contribution to the network could be to increase the knowledge and development of joint collaborations between member companies and research centers specializing in diseases (including metabolic ones) that involve the central nervous system and that can be studied through molecular research processes and processes.
